There are 4 channels of transformer isolated splits per rack mount unit and each split has a ground lift switch. I've got 16 channels of old school ProCo splits. No point in saving a bit of money if it doesn't work properly. He's looking at those Behringers you noted and I'll mention to him to check into reports of them being noisy.

Grab the rack and go, no thought required, and I believe the splitter(s) would be prewired to the mixer. Our bandleader also wants a rack solution as he wants to bring the same rig whether we run sound ourselves or use the splitter with larger in-place FOH systems. In our case we'll be using either a QSC touchmix or Behringer xr18 that have been our own main mixers for years. Almost every band doing these corporate things uses in-ears and we (mostly) do as well so that makes it more feasible. Any band I've been in has been provided an aux/wedge per musician from FOH but apparently the thing now-we've gotten a few corporate gigs lately- is to have the bands provide their own monitor mixer and manage the monitors ourselves. The idea of a separate monitor system is new to me, I've never been in a band that "progressed" that far. I don't have much to provide, just that I'll be following along. We are in the process of doing something similar (I had to read carefully in case you were our bandleader!)
